Health Guarantee

Section 1: Our Promise

At Best Paws Home, we do not just sell puppies – we raise family members. That is why we proudly offer a one-year genetic health guarantee on every Shih Tzu and Yorkshire Terrier puppy we place. We are fully confident in our breeding program, our veterinary care, and the love we pour into every litter. Our reputation is built on healthy, happy puppies, and this guarantee reflects that commitment.

Section 2: The Full Health Guarantee

Best Paws Home guarantees that your puppy has received a complete veterinary examination by a licensed veterinarian within seven days before going home. Your puppy will be free of any signs of contagious, infectious, or communicable diseases at the time of sale, and will have been given all age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming treatments. We also guarantee that your puppy is free from congenital or hereditary conditions that would adversely affect the puppy’s health for a period of one full year from the puppy’s date of birth. Covered conditions include life-threatening heart defects, severe hip dysplasia confirmed by X-ray, liver shunts (portosystemic shunt), and major organ malformations. This guarantee is valid only if you have your puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within seventy-two hours (three business days) of receiving the puppy, whether by pickup or delivery.

To keep this guarantee active, you must provide us with a written report from your veterinarian within five days of that examination. You also agree to maintain your puppy’s health with regular veterinary visits, appropriate vaccinations, a nutritious diet, and a safe, loving living environment. This guarantee does not cover minor issues such as common colds, parasites including giardia, coccidia, or worms after the first five days of ownership, umbilical hernias, undescended testicles, or any condition caused by accidents, falls, chewing on dangerous objects, neglect, improper nutrition, or lack of proper supervision. It also does not cover behavioral issues such as shyness, anxiety, or aggression, as these are heavily influenced by environment, training, and socialization after the puppy leaves our care.

Section 3: The Seventy-Two Hour Vet Visit Requirement

You must take your puppy to a licensed veterinarian within seventy-two hours (three business days) of pickup or delivery. This requirement is non-negotiable. If a serious health issue is found during that first veterinary exam and confirmed in writing, we will either cover eligible veterinary costs up to the original purchase price of the puppy or offer a replacement puppy of equal value. If you fail to complete the seventy-two hour veterinary examination, this entire health guarantee becomes void immediately. We take this requirement seriously because early detection protects both you and your new puppy.

Section 4: What You Receive at Pickup or Delivery

Every puppy from Best Paws Home goes home with a complete health packet that includes a veterinarian health certificate dated within seven days of departure, a full vaccination record showing all first shots given at six to eight weeks of age, a detailed deworming schedule showing treatments at two, four, six, and eight weeks, the puppy’s microchip number and registration information, thirty days of free pet insurance through a provider like Trupanion or Spot, and a signed copy of this health guarantee. You will receive all of these documents at the time you take possession of your puppy. We encourage you to keep them in a safe place for future reference.

Section 5: Replacement Puppy or Refund Policy

If a covered genetic condition is confirmed by two independent licensed veterinarians within the one-year guarantee period, you have two options to choose from. The first option is a replacement puppy. We will provide you with a puppy of the same breed, the same sex, and comparable quality from our next available litter. Shipping or delivery costs for the replacement puppy will be your responsibility. We will not require you to return the sick puppy to us – you may keep them and continue to care for them. The second option is a full refund. We will refund one hundred percent of the puppy’s original purchase price directly to you. Again, you keep the puppy and are not required to return them. This guarantee does not cover veterinary bills beyond the refund or replacement value, which is why we strongly recommend that you continue the pet insurance policy beyond the first thirty days.

Section 6: Our Lifetime Return Policy

Separate from the health guarantee described above, Best Paws Home offers a lifetime return policy with no questions asked. If at any point in your dog’s life – whether your dog is six months old, six years old, or ten years old – you are unable to keep your Shih Tzu or Yorkie for any reason, we will take them back. There is no judgment, no fees, and no questions asked. We will either find a loving new home for them ourselves or keep them with us forever if that is what is best for the dog. This is our moral commitment to every single puppy we bring into this world, and it does not expire. Once a Best Paws Home puppy, always a Best Paws Home family member.

Section 7: Final Terms and Signatures

By adopting a puppy from Best Paws Home, both the breeder and the adopter agree to all of the terms described above. This health guarantee is non-transferable and applies only to the original adopter who purchased the puppy directly from us. We reserve the right to request complete medical records and independent second opinions before honoring any claim under this guarantee. Both parties will sign a copy of this health guarantee at the time of adoption. A copy will be provided to you for your records. If you have any questions about this health guarantee at any time, you can always contact us by phone or email, and we will respond promptly.
